These are the rules for using Fariin. They are short because the app is simple and because rules nobody reads protect nobody.

Using Fariin

You may use Fariin if you are 13 or older. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to terms like these on your own, you need a parent or guardian to agree for you.

You are responsible for your account and for the devices you sign in on. Keep your phone locked. If you lose a device, sign it out from the app on another one.

What you may not do

• Send messages to people who have not agreed to hear from you, in bulk.
• Harass, threaten or impersonate anyone.
• Share material showing the sexual abuse of children. We report this to the authorities and delete the account without warning.
• Use Fariin to plan or carry out anything that is a crime where you or the recipient live.
• Try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, or automate accounts.
• Upload anything you do not have the right to share.

What we can and cannot do about it

Because message contents are encrypted, we cannot read them, and we cannot search them for anything. That is the design. It also means we can only act on what is reported to us with enough detail to act on, or on what is visible outside the encryption, such as a username or a profile photo.

If an account is reported and we find it has broken these rules, we may suspend or delete it. Report an account to abuse@fariin.com, or use the report option inside the app.

Your content

What you send stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not use it to train anything. We only handle it to the extent needed to deliver it to the person you sent it to.

The service can change

Fariin is in active development. Features may change or be removed. We will not remove a feature you depend on without saying so in the app first.

We aim to keep the service running but cannot promise it never breaks. It is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be available at any particular moment. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from an outage.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. See the privacy policy for what happens to your data afterwards, including the thirty day grace period.

We may close an account that breaks these rules, or if we have to shut the service down. If we shut down, we will give notice in the app so you can save what matters to you.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
